IN THE COUNCIL OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE CRIMEAN TATAR PEOPLE
Our information: The Council of Representatives of the
Crimean Tatar people attached to the President of Ukraine was established by the Ukrainian President's
Decree # 518/99 "On the Council of Representatives of the Crimean Tatar people". All of the 33 members
of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people entered in this Council. At the same time, the Chairman of
the Mejlis, People's Deputy of Ukraine, M. Dzhemilev, was appointed the Chairman of the Council of
Representatives of the Crimean Tatar people. In 2000, three meetings of the
Council of Representatives of the Crimean Tatar people with participation of
the President of Ukraine were held.1

The regular meeting of the Council of Representatives of the Crimean
Tatar people attached to the President of Ukraine on September 17, 2001, in Yalta was held.
The President of Ukraine L. Kuchma opened the meeting. The Head of Council
of Ministers of the ARC V. Horbatov, Head of the Council of Representatives of the Crimean Tatar people
M. Dzhemilev, deputy head of the Council of Representatives of the Crimean Tatar people R. Chubarov,
vice-premier of Ukraine V. Semynozhenko, Minister of Justice of Ukraine S. Stanik, Head of State Land
Committee of Ukraine A. Danylenko, Head of Committee on Housing and Architecture of Ukraine V. Cherep,
member of the Council of Representatives of the Crimean Tatar people, deputy head of Bakhchisaray Regional
State Administration I. Umerov, member of the Council of Representatives of the Crimean Tatar people
N. Bekirov and head of Audit Commission of Kurultay of the Crimean Tatar people A. Mustafayev informed
on realization of previous decisions of Council and instructions of the President of Ukraine, including
the most current issues, which are required additional instructions.
The significant part of reports was dedicated to representation of Crimean
Tatars in bodies of the government of the ARC and allotment of land shares for repatriates, which live in
rural area. In some of reports were given a sharp evaluation of activity of leadership of Verkhovna
Rada of the ARC, which directed on exasperation of interethnic and interconfessional enmity on peninsula.
The Head of Administration of President of Ukraine V. Lytvyn, press
secretary of President of Ukraine A. Martinenko, Minister of education and arts of Ukraine V. Kremen,
Minister of finances of Ukraine I. Mitukov, Minister of culture of Ukraine Y. Bogutstkyi, Head
of Committee on religion of Ukraine V. Bondarenko, the Permanent Representative of the President
of Ukraine in the ARC A. Korniychuk, Head of Verkhovna Rada of the ARC L. Hrach and other responsible
persons of the central executive and heads of regional state administration of the ARC took part in
meeting of the Council of Representatives of the Crimean Tatar people attached to the President of Ukraine as well.
The President of Ukraine L. Kuchma resumed the meeting of the Council of
Representatives of the Crimean Tatar people. The instructions of the President of Ukraine from 29 September
2001 are given below.
