(Return to the Motherland)
Namely, by name – Avdet – 15 June 1990, was published the first issue of periodical publication of Organization of
the Crimean Tatar National Movement (OCTNM).
With establishment on base of initiative groups of the Crimean Tatar Movement the Voluntary-Political Organization of
Crimean Tatars – OCTNM (29 April – 2 May 1989) and transference of political center of struggle of the Crimean Tatar people for restoration of
the rights to Crimea, it was very necessary a periodical publication, which not only could give for people, who began mass to return to own lands,
to receive a necessary information, and would serve for more clear coordination of different forces in national movement.
Besides, OCTNM defined among main its tasks the establishment of dialogue between Crimean Tatars, who were returning
to the Motherland, and those people, who settled in Crimea after deportation of the Crimean Tatar people. The establishment of such understanding
in Crimean society one could achieve only through open dialogue with all inhabitants of peninsula and reliable information on events, which take
place in Crimea with return of its indigenous people.
The editorial staff of newspaper “Avdet” was placed in Bakhchisaray, but first issues of newspaper were published
in further from Crimea capital of Latvia – Riga, and than by special couriers were taken on peninsula. Latter, a newspaper began to be published in
Bakhchisaray printing office.
In spite of sufficient circulation for that period (up to 8,000), the first issues “Avdet” today is difficult
of access for researchers, they were remained only in separate collections. Proceed from that a lot of researchers on the Crimean Tatar problem apply
for Center of Information and Documentation of Crimean Tatars with request to give assistance in familiarization with materials “Avdet” of
first years of its publication, at web-site of CIDCT was started a work on placement of electron versions of “Avdet”.
